Financial Assistance

The purpose of financial assistance is to provide temporary financial aid to those who make a conscientious effort to find a permanent solution to their financial problems. Assistance will only be given to those who have a legitimate emergency or hardship as determined by the Veterans Service Commission, and meet the eligibility requirements established by the Ohio Revised Code.  It is our intention to assist veterans and their dependents on a short term basis until a permanent solution to their difficulties can be arranged.

Eligibility Requirements:

Section 5901.08 of the Ohio Revised Code establishes eligibility for financial assistance from county veteran service commissions. To qualify for assistance, an applicant must demonstrate financial need and unexpected hardship. Additionally, the applicant must be a veteran, an active duty member of the Armed Forces of the United States, or the spouse, surviving spouse (widow/widower), dependent parent, minor child, or ward of a veteran or active duty member of the Armed Forces of the U.S.

Applicants must have been a resident of Crawford County for at least three (3) months prior to the date of application.

Completed applications are accepted no later than the 2nd and the 4th Wednesday of each month and must be finalized in-person. Therefore, it is imperative you call us at 419-562-7761 to schedule an appointment prior to the deadline.
